Gastroscopy
_heic.png)
The equine stomach is at risk for development of gastric ulcerations. Since horse’s are constant grazers, their
stomach secretes acid constantly (unlike humans that will secrete gastric acid only with a meal).
Clinical signs of gastric ulceration include:
• Poor appetite
• Weight loss
• Exercise intolerance
• Sensitivity in girth region
• Poor body condition
• Diarrhea
A gastroscope can help diagnose severity of disease and well as guide appropriate administration of medication and supplements.
